
Corte Madera Schools
Corte Madera is a small town located at the base of Mt. Tamalpais in Marin County, just out of San Francisco’s foggy weather but only a short commute away from the city. If you are considering purchasing a home in this charming town, you will want to give some attention to the schools available for your child’s education. There are three excellent traditional public schools serving students in Corte Madera, as well as two alternative high schools. In addition, some of Marin County’s finest private campuses are in Corte Madera.
Public Schools in Corte Madera
Most of Corte Madera is served by two public school districts; Larkspur School District for elementary and middle school, and Tamalpais Union High School District, which includes Redwood High School in Larkspur.
Larkspur School District is a small district serving the towns of Larkspur and Corte Madera. More than 1000 students attend the two award winning elementary and middle schools that comprise the district.
Tamalpais Union High School District provides secondary school education to students coming from ten elementary districts in Marin County, including the Larkspur School District. It includes three comprehensive high schools, all of which have been designated as California Distinguished Schools, and two alternative schools.
A small portion of East Corte Madera is served by Reed Union School District.

Neil Cummins School is an award winning elementary school that serves children in the Larkspur School District. Neil Cummins has twice been identified as a California Distinguished School. Congratulations to Hall Middle School for being named a California Distinguished School for 2007. This is the fifth time Hall Middle School has been honored with this award. Hall Middle School is also a Blue Ribbon School, which is considered to be the highest award an American school can achieve. Hall Middle School offers a transitional program with self-contained classes for 5th grade to a fully departmentalized program in the 8th grade.

Congratulations to Redwood High School upon being named a California Distinguished School for 2007! This is the fourth time Redwood High has earned this award. Redwood High School offers a rigorous college preparatory curriculum with Advanced Placement and Honors courses, and includes French, Spanish, and Latin language classes. Redwood High also has an ROP program. Redwood High School is attended by students from Larkspur, Kentfield, Reed Union, and Ross School Districts. Gavin Newsom, mayor of San Francisco; Gary Fisher, one of the inventors of the mountain bike; and Robin Williams all attended Redwood High School.

Tamiscal High School is a small independent high school within the Tamalpais Union High School District. The Tamiscal curriculum offers a program that allows a high school diploma, but not necessarily the courses needed to gain entrance into a university. University entry courses such as foreign language and upper level lab sciences must be taken elsewhere.

The Lycée Français La Pérouse is an American private school with a French public school curriculum. All subjects are taught in French. Non-French speaking children are admitted from the age of 2 ½ years through Kindergarten. Thereafter, only French-speaking students are admitted. The Lycée has three campuses, two in San Francisco and one in Marin County (Corte Madera). Students can attend the Marin campus preschool through 5th grade.
