Larkspur's Marin Country Mart is fast becoming the hottest spot for foodies and families in Marin County. Situated across the street from the Larkspur Ferry Building and just off Hwy 101 the Marin Country Mart is an easy stop for all. Proximity to safe bike and walking routes make it accessible for non-motorized transportation, as well as, for residents in Corte Madera, Larkspur, Greenbrae, Kentfield and San Rafael. Multiple bike racks are located on the property.
Through careful curation Marin Country Mart is building a marketplace filled with artisan food sellers. Here you can eat roseflower macaroons at Miette, devour a sope at El Hurache Loco, grab a baguette to take home at Rustic Bakery and enjoy a cold Mt. Tam IPA at the…
The America's Cup is comng to Marin

As a Realtor, I find myself mentioning this tidbit of information regularly while showing homes in Sausalito, Belvedere and Tiburon.
I recently visited a townhome for sale in Sausallto. The agent had to wait two days to get us in because the owner had put his unit
on the market as an Airbnb touting it for its remarkable views of the Bay and (soon to be) America's Cup.
The next time that The America's Cup comes to town will be July fourth week-end for the beginning of the Louis Vuitton Trials.
Then the boats will most likely stay through the big event.
The America's Cup Challenge is the last event on September 7th and may possibly go as late as September 23rd, 2013.
I was curious how they decide who the winning team will be for the America's…

San Rafael's West End Neighbor - The Lego® King - Tim Bowen
Friday, November 9th, 2012 at 12:48pm. 320 Views, 1 Comments.
Who would have guessed, certainly not Tim Bowen, that he would start his own business, Play-Well TEKnologies, and be adored by parents and kids alike? A 20-year resident of the West End Neighborhood of San Rafael, Tim's circuitous route to fame included turning the master bedroom of his home into a LEGO® incubator. Instead of planning his career path, he let his inquisitive mind lead to jobs and projects that he found interesting and challenging.
You might call Tim Bowen the Steve Jobs of LEGO® except he started in a bedroom instead of a garage. The mission for Play-Well TEKnology mirror's Tim's own life experience and his desire to nurture the skills he found valuable: an inquisitive mind, creative expression,…

Corte Madera Music For Kids In Marin
Wednesday, October 17th, 2012 at 11:33am. 303 Views, 0 Comments.
Mini Music has come to Marin and is taking over the young toddler music scene. I recently met Ali Weiss and Warren Mann at my open house in Fairfax at 8 Westbrae. What delightful people. They are so excited to be expanding beyond Sonoma into Marin. She told me that their business is exploding at their current home at Inner Rhythms which is located at 518 Tamalpais Suite D in Corte Madera.Their classes focus on connecting kids and their parents, (care givers) with music.
I meet a lot of parents of young kids in my business (I help people buy and sell homes in Fairfax and Corte Madera.) It's such a relief to find great enriching activiities in your own neighborhood. When my teens were tots, we took them to a music class in Fairfax. The kids loved it and…

Today, the Marin Independent Journal published the 2011-12 API Scores for the Marin Public Schools. Marin public schools continue to score well above the 53% of schools statewide in academic achievement according to the recently published figures. In addition, all but three of the Marin school districts posted gains from the previous year. According to Thomas Lohwasser, superintendent of San Rafael's Dixie School District, "you can't always judge a school by its test scores but the 11 point jump in score validates our efforts."
To check out the scores for individual schools, click on the link to the Marin Independent Journal article. Some highlights are districts with significant gains, Kentfield,…
Marin County Weather Differences - the impact of Microclimate
Thursday, September 6th, 2012 at 8:55am. 646 Views, 0 Comments.
Whether or not you care a lot about weather, you will start to pay attention when you begin your search for a home in Marin County. Marin is one of the few places on Earth with a microclimate.
As a local realtor in Marin I'm used to peoples somewhat disbelieving reactions when I tell them about the differences in weather patterns between the cities in Marin County - and even WITHIN each city! It could easily differ as much as 18°F (10° C) within just a fifteen minutes drive. This is fascinating and something you learn to take advantage of when you live here.
During my sixteen years as a Marin resident, there are numerous occasions when I've crossed the Golden Gate Bridge and the temperature shows 53° F. Fifteen minutes…
Cycling in Marin County, do you know the rules?
Friday, August 31st, 2012 at 4:52pm. 407 Views, 1 Comments.
In my many years of living in Marin County, I have fallen in love with mountain biking. I'm even willing to overlook the bugs and branches consistently hurtling toward my face on a ride, because the scenery (and very often the stunning view, as the picture above shows) is completely worth it. But I have a hard time getting that same feeling on the road, sharing space with various hulking modes of transportation that don't run on the quinoa salad I had for lunch, not to mention my mild concern over spandex. However, I might be the only one in Marin County deterred. In fact, the Marin Bike Coalition conducted a survey that showed weekday cyclists in Marin increased 118% from 1999 to 2009. So clearly the spandex…
